# Comment on the frame, then Fix with AI

> TL;DR: In Vidiyo you leave notes on your video the way you would in a design tool: pinned to a moment and, if you like, to a spot on the frame. Click Fix with AI on a thread, or send every open comment at once, and the assistant makes the changes and resolves each note with a short reply.

Comments in Vidiyo work like comments in a design tool, but on video. A note isn't a line in a chat history that the AI has to interpret. It's pinned to the exact frame and the exact spot you mean, which is the context an editor (human or AI) needs to make the right change.

## How do I comment on a video in Vidiyo?

Press **C** (or pick the comment tool in the toolbar) and click the video to pin a comment to that spot at that moment. Press **N**, or double-click the Comments lane on the timeline, to comment on a moment without a spot. The pin shows on the preview near its moment, on the timeline's Comments lane and in the Comments panel. All three open the same thread.

Example comments:

- "Hold on 160 GB a beat longer before the card slides away."
- "This caption covers the button. Move it up."
- "Too much dead air before this line."
- "Music is too loud here."
- "Can the title come in on \"three\" instead?"

Threads support replies, resolve and reopen. Pins that sit closer than a pin's width merge into one numbered pin that steps through them.

## How does Fix with AI work?

**Fix with AI** in a thread hands that comment to the assistant. The comment carries its moment and, if you pinned one, its position on the frame, so "move this up" is not ambiguous. The assistant makes the change, checks the result and resolves the note with a short line on what it did. If it can't or shouldn't make the change, it says why instead of resolving silently.

To clear a whole round of notes, use **Send comments to AI** in the Comments panel. Every open comment goes in one request, and the assistant addresses each one before it finishes.

| Step | What you do | What happens |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Watch the cut and pin notes | Pins appear on the frame and timeline |
| 2 | Click Fix with AI or send all | The assistant gets each note with its moment and spot |
| 3 | Review | Changed moments show as ticks on the timeline |
| 4 | Reopen if needed | The thread keeps the history |

The last request's changes show as ticks on the timeline, so you can jump straight to what moved. Each request undoes in one step.

## Who else leaves comments?

The AI does, and that's the point. The critic review (a separate pass that can't change anything), the quality checks and the export review all write their findings as comments, anchored to the moment of the problem. A finding about a range longer than three seconds pins to its first frame. So "the hook opens on a breath, start on 'Client'" shows up exactly where it happens, ready for Fix with AI.

Comments also work in the [thumbnail studio](https://getvidiyo.app/features/ai-thumbnails), where you pin points or areas on a version and refine with all of them at once.

## Why comment instead of typing the fix in chat?

Because a comment carries its own context. A chat message like "move that caption up" leaves the assistant to work out which caption and when. A comment pinned to the caption at 0:22 removes the guesswork, so the fix lands in the right place the first time. Comments also batch well: you can watch the whole cut once, drop a dozen notes as you go without stopping playback to write requests, then send them all together. And they leave a record. Each thread keeps the note, the assistant's reply and whether it was resolved, which is useful when you come back to a project a week later.

## What don't comments do?

There's no client review link yet, so clients can't open the project in a browser and leave notes. Comments live in the project on your Mac. There's no real-time collaboration either. If you work with clients, export a draft, collect their feedback, and type it in as comments on the right frames.

## Who is it for?

Anyone who reviews their own cut in passes, and agencies managing revisions. Writing "fix the caption at 0:22" in a chat works, but pinning it to the caption is faster and leaves a record of what changed. It's also the quickest way to act on the critic's notes before you export.

## Honest limits

- No client review link. Comments stay in the project on your Mac.
- No real-time collaboration. One person edits a project at a time.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I leave comments on a video in Vidiyo?

Yes. Press C and click the frame to pin a comment to that spot and moment, or press N to comment at the playhead. Comments show on the preview, on the timeline's Comments lane and in the Comments panel.

### What does Fix with AI do?

It hands the comment thread to the assistant as an edit request. The assistant reads the note, the moment and the spot you pinned, makes the change on the timeline and resolves the comment with a short note on what it did.

### Can I send all my comments to the AI at once?

Yes. The Comments panel has a button that sends every open comment to the assistant in one request. It addresses each note and resolves them one by one, or explains why it didn't.

### Can clients review my video with comments in Vidiyo?

Not yet. Comments live in the project on your Mac, and there's no client review link. Agencies usually export a draft for the client and type their feedback into Vidiyo as comments.

### Does the AI leave comments too?

Yes. The critic review, the quality checks and the export review pin their findings as comments at the exact moment of the problem, so you can read them on the timeline and fix them with one click.
