# A content calendar that schedules your videos

> TL;DR: Vidiyo puts the whole pipeline in one app: ideas on a board, scripts, a calendar, the edit and the cover. When a video is done, you review the post and approve it, and Vidiyo schedules it to Instagram, X, LinkedIn or YouTube through your own Buffer account. The assistant can plan and draft, but only you approve.

Most video tools stop at export. Vidiyo carries on: the idea that started the video, the script you wrote for it, the edit, the cover and the scheduled post all live in one place, linked together. That's useful when you're posting several times a week and need to know what's filmed, what's in the edit and what's going out on Friday.

## How does the content calendar work?

Vidiyo's Home has a **Board**, a **Calendar** and **Exports** next to your projects. Each idea on the board holds a brief, a script, a stage and a planned date. A card links to one video project, so opening the idea opens its edit.

| Stage | What moves it |
| --- | --- |
| Idea | You add it, or the assistant does |
| Scripting | You start writing |
| Filming | You're recording |
| Editing | The edit is in progress |
| Scheduled | A post is accepted by Buffer |
| Posted | Buffer reports the post as sent |

The last two follow the card's posts, so the board stays honest. The Calendar has a month grid and a Posts list. Planning a date doesn't approve or send anything.

## Can the AI help plan and write?

Yes. The assistant can create cards, write and edit scripts, move stages, plan dates and draft captions for each platform. Captions and titles are written from what the finished video actually says, not from the original brief.

Things you can type:

- "Make cards for five video ideas about our onboarding."
- "Write a 45-second script for the pricing update."
- "Plan these for Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 am."
- "Draft Instagram and LinkedIn captions from the final cut."
- "Schedule it for Friday, 9 am."

The assistant's tools stop at drafts. It can't approve, connect accounts or publish. When you ask it to schedule, it prepares the post and you approve it.

## How does scheduling through Buffer work?

[Buffer](https://buffer.com) holds your social accounts and sends each post at its time, so schedules run while your Mac sleeps. Buffer's [free plan](https://buffer.com/pricing) covers 3 channels and includes API access. Because Buffer's API takes video only as a public link, Vidiyo uploads approved exports to your own S3-compatible bucket first.

1. Connect Instagram, X, LinkedIn or YouTube in Buffer, and create an API key there.
2. Create a bucket with public access (Cloudflare R2 or any S3-compatible store) and an access key for it.
3. Add the Buffer key and bucket details in Settings → Publishing. Check connection lists your channels.
4. From an idea, pick an account (the latest export is preselected), write the caption, set the time, then review and approve.

Approval rechecks the export's checksum, uploads it under an unguessable name, confirms the link works and creates the Buffer post: scheduled for your time, or sent now if the time is blank. The video is deleted from the bucket once no unfinished post needs it. Vidiyo checks status after the post's time, marks it published with a link when Buffer reports it sent, and never retries a request Buffer didn't confirm, because a repeat could post twice.

## What does an export have to do with a post?

Every export is saved as a fixed copy for publication and listed under its idea in Exports, along with covers taken from the project's thumbnails. A post points at one export, so you can keep editing the project without changing what's already scheduled. Approval checks the export's checksum before uploading, which means the file Buffer receives is exactly the one you reviewed. If you want the newer edit to go out instead, cancel the scheduled post, choose the new export and approve again. Posts that share an export reuse one upload.

## What doesn't it do?

It schedules video posts only: no text-only posts, carousels, analytics or inbox. Custom covers work on Instagram. Buffer has no thumbnail input for YouTube, X or LinkedIn, so add those on the platform. Instagram needs a professional account connected in Buffer. And if you change an approved caption or export, cancel the scheduled post first and approve again.

## Who is it for?

Founders and creators posting on a schedule, and small agencies running a client's calendar. If you already use Buffer, there's nothing new to sign up for on the social side. Your footage and projects stay on your Mac. Only the approved video, its caption, title and time leave it.

## Honest limits

- Buffer's free plan covers 3 channels.
- Publishing needs your own S3-compatible storage bucket with a public link. Anyone holding a link can watch that video until it's deleted after posting.
- Custom covers work on Instagram only. YouTube, X and LinkedIn covers have to be added on the platform.
- Video posts only: no text-only posts, carousels or analytics.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can Vidiyo schedule videos to social media?

Yes, through Buffer. You connect your Buffer account and a storage bucket in Settings, then approve a post from the calendar. Vidiyo uploads the finished video and Buffer posts it at the time you set, even while your Mac sleeps.

### Which platforms can Vidiyo post to?

Instagram (as a Reel shared to the feed), X, LinkedIn and YouTube Shorts, through the channels you've connected in Buffer. Instagram needs a professional account connected in Buffer.

### Can the AI post a video without my approval?

No. The assistant can create ideas, write scripts, plan dates and draft captions, but it can't approve, connect accounts or publish. Every post needs your explicit review and approval, tied to the exact version you reviewed.

### Do I need a paid Buffer plan?

Not to start. Buffer's free plan covers 3 channels and includes API access. If you post to more channels or schedule more posts per channel than the free plan allows, you'll need a paid Buffer plan.

### Why does Vidiyo need a storage bucket for publishing?

Buffer's API only accepts video as a public link that works until the post goes out. Vidiyo uploads the approved export to your own S3-compatible bucket, such as Cloudflare R2, and deletes it once no pending post needs it.
