> TL;DR: Type "Schedule this to Instagram and LinkedIn for Tuesday 9am" and Vidiyo drafts a caption for each platform from what your video says, attaches the latest export, sets your designed cover on the Instagram post, and schedules both through your Buffer account. It reports each post's time in your local time zone.

## What to say

> Schedule this to Instagram and LinkedIn for Tuesday 9am

Category: Publishing

## What Vidiyo does

1. Reads the video's content card, its latest export and your connected Buffer channels.
2. Asks to export first if there's no export of the current cut, after the quality checks pass.
3. Writes a separate caption for Instagram and for LinkedIn from what the video actually says.
4. Sets the project's cover thumbnail on the Instagram post.
5. Schedules both posts in Buffer for the time you named, never publishing immediately.
6. Reports each post with its account and local time, and any that failed with the reason.

Finishing a video and getting it posted are two different jobs. This prompt does the second one from the editor: captions written, cover set, posts scheduled, without opening another app.

## What does Vidiyo do when you say this?

Vidiyo reads the video's card, its latest export and your connected Buffer channels, then writes a separate caption for each platform from what the video actually says. It sets your designed cover on the Instagram post and schedules both posts in Buffer for the time you named. It reports each one with its account and local time.

If there's no export of the current cut, it runs the quality checks and asks before exporting. Buffer holds your accounts and sends the posts at their time, so the schedule runs while your Mac sleeps. Nothing is ever published immediately, and the assistant only touches posts you mentioned.

## How do you phrase it?

Name the platforms and the time, or leave the time to your queue:

- "Schedule this to Instagram and LinkedIn for Tuesday 9am"
- "Schedule it for Friday, 9 am"
- "Add this to my Instagram queue"
- "Post to YouTube Shorts tomorrow evening with the title 'I lost 160 GB'"
- "Move Tuesday's LinkedIn post to Wednesday 10am"

"Tomorrow evening" or "Friday" work, and the assistant converts to an exact time and tells you what it picked. With no time, posts go to Buffer's next free slot.

## How would you do this by hand?

By hand, you'd export the video, open your scheduler, upload the file, write a caption for each platform, set the cover where possible, pick the time and repeat per channel. Most of the time goes into writing captions that fit each platform. Here they're drafted from the video's transcript, and you review them in the reply.

## What should you check afterwards?

Read each caption before the post goes out, especially numbers and names. Check the reported times are in the time zone you meant. If you change the video after scheduling, export again and ask Vidiyo to delete the old post and schedule the new export. Ask "what's scheduled this week?" to see every post Buffer has due, including ones you made in Buffer directly.

## Honest limits

- Publishing goes through Buffer. Buffer's free plan covers 3 channels.
- Buffer needs a public link to the video, so exports are uploaded to your own storage bucket first.
- Custom covers apply on Instagram only.

## Frequently asked questions

### What do I need to set up first?

A Buffer account with your Instagram and LinkedIn channels connected, plus your Buffer key and a storage bucket for the video link, added once in Settings, Publishing. The docs walk through it.

### What if I don't give a time?

The post goes into the account's Buffer queue at its next free posting slot. A time is only set when you name one.

### Can it set a custom thumbnail on LinkedIn or YouTube?

No. Buffer can't set a custom thumbnail there, so the cover is only applied on Instagram. Download the cover from Exports and add it on the platform yourself.

### Will it post right now if I ask?

It never publishes immediately. If you ask to post now, it schedules a few minutes ahead and says so.
